Cell phones operators are trying to sell phones with their own brand on it. Why? Just to try to have more control over the features and applications.
Having to deal with a no-name brand is also a good way for the operator to squeeze the margins of the handset maker. Even big names such as Danger Inc and PalmOne are dependant on the wireless operators to build their smart phones.
The operators might get what they want. DoCoMo, Japan's largest provider pretty much dictates what they want.
