SBC Media Solutions launches its Set-Top Box

SBC is joining forces with 2Wire to bring the home entertainment do-it-all box.

With a 250GB hard drive, it is capable of recording 180 hours of standard definition (SD) shows or 25 hours of high definition (HD) programs. It can also store your music, and photos.

Destined to be a media hub to (commercial) services, it will let you use broadband services, via DSL, to buy music, movie tickets and so on… It could be a real threat to Windows Media Center and TIVO. Gigaom reports that in a few months one could even access the box from a Cingular cellphone…
