Disposable DVDs : the solid end of the late fees

Now you can rent movies and throw the DVD away: no more late fees, no more trips back to BlockBuster or to the post office…
The FlexPlay Company came up with their next disposable DVD. Jeff Arnold, the CEO, says it s inexpensive:
"The way the technology operates is that you imbed a chemical into the physical DVD and seal it. And when you open it up, and you have over a year until you have to open it, and it's exposed to oxygen, it creates a chemical reaction and turns the DVD black 48 hours later which then makes it inoperable with a DVD player or erasing the content."
Amazon.com offers about 60 different titles for $4.99, just type in Flexplay.
One annoying question: is that really good environment-wise?
