Skype Technologies Launches Premium VoIP Services, Adds Voicemail

Skype, the leading VoIP-category product worldwide, has added to its product offering with a range of premium services.
The most interesting new service, SkypeIn, allows you to purchase up to three phone numbers so they can be reached by non-Skype users with ordinary fixed or mobile phones, and to sign up for a voicemail service. The three numbers currently available are in eight countries: Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the US, so calls made to Skype phone numbers are billed at the normal long distance rate - thus eliminating expensive roaming charges.

You can also record your own personalised voicemail greeting, playback your messages, even while offline, and send incoming calls to voicemail if you are away, offline or simply busy on another call.
The company is also planning a video conferencing service and another tailored for small and medium-size businesses in the near future. Skype now has more than 35 million registered users, increasing by more than 150,000 new users per day, according to the company.
