If you just can't be bothered to wait for your PC to boot, or your missus keeps accusing you of working instead of playing (maybe that sounded better in my head!), this DVD drive ($199) with a twist may be just what you both need.
All you need to do is turn on the drive and throw in a CD (regular or MP3) or tune in to your favourite radio station (thanks to the integrated FM tuner), then let the party begin without ever turning on your computer! It also has a built in real time clock and alarm.
