Ubergizmo in Japan: Hands on with the KDDI Talby design cellphone
Posted on May 23, 05 07:54 PM PDT
We had the opportunity to play with this cool phone that was featured on Ubergizmo back in October 2004. It's a really fun phone that's very flat and stylish. Its weight allows it to be used with a neck lace if you're into that.
The screen quality was amazing (about 320x240 on a 2.2" LCD - I'm eyeballing here). There a digital camera integrated in the back that can shoot fairly good pictures (for a phone). As lots of Japanese phones, this one can decode these special square barcodes. More info below.
In this instance, the barcode contains information such as our website, my email and our phone number. It is widely used by restaurants and shops in Japan to let customers grab information about the store or the products.
