Popular Science Magazine have done what was previously unheard of - turning your backpack into a portable, solar-powered WiFi hotspot that enables you to surf at broadband speeds wherever you are. For those who are always on the road and absolutely need an Internet connection, plonking down over a grand on this set-up might well be worth the price.
The most essential ingredient to this Hotspot recipe is the Junxion Box. All you need to do is to plug a cellular-network card into the open source-based device in order to achieve an instant WiFi hotspot thats running at an average 700kbps. Power issues are solved with 1.2A baterry that sits snugly in your solar-charger Voltaic Systems backpack. Some of the parts required are listed below.
Parts List
• Junxion Box wireless gateway $700
• Verizon Wireless EV-DO PCMCIA card $100
