Just when you think you have seen it all, another surprise comes along. Most custody battles are a bitter fight over the children, but bizarrely the rights over a computer game are being contested.
Chongqing Business Post reports that the couple from Huibei, Mr. Wang and Ms. Ye, fell in love last September. They met on Shanda’s online game Legend of Mir 2, where Wang played the knight in shining armor and saved Ye’s character from being killed by another player. Meeting up in real life, they married shortly after that but fell out of love and divorced in June.
During their marital union, they shared more than 10 Mir 2 accounts. These accounts are between levels 40 and 50, worth an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 Yuan after taking into consideration the character levels and virtual items. Wang has told the court that Ye can keep the apartment, providing he retains ownership over all the accounts and virtual items, while Ye wants to split both the apartment and game accounts equally.
