From LEDs to OLEDs, we now have PLED – the Polymer Light Emitting Diode. The polymers that it is made of can be laid down in the manner similar to the way ink-jet printers lay ink. Seiko Epson have already demonstrated a 40” printed display for the curious. UK-based Cambridge Display Technologies (CDT) is a pioneer in the PLED field, and the company believes that printed displays will be ubiquitous by the year 2007. Talk is cheap and at the moment, relatively low brightness and lifetime prevent to the commercialization of this technology.
