Robotic jacket to help stroke victims
Posted on Oct 25, 05 01:27 AM PDT

An elegant robotic jacket could prove useful in the rehabilitation of recovering stroke victims, helping them recover from partial paralysis. The device is a mesh jacket that uses sensors to detect muscle movements in the patient’s healthy limb and then mimics the same movement via the suit’s artificial muscles. It is hoped that such therapy will bring about regular functioning of the damaged limb. Clinical trials with the jacket are expected to be conducted soon.
