Japan receives corn-based socks from US

Biodegradable socks made from corn-derived fiber will worm their way into Japan from US in 2006. This development will be an attempt to compete with the ridiculous prices offered by low-cost textile manufacturers from China and other Asian countries. Japan has extremely high environmental awareness, and US manufacturers hope to capitalize on this to push sales. These socks will cost 20% more than what is currently available, but it bodes well for the earth and her citizens.
