Posted on Dec 23, 05 12:48 AM PDT
LG Electronics' new 55" M5500C widescreen LCD offers a stunning native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and represents the pinnacle in picture quality via 1080P (progressive scan). DVI and VGA connectors make the M5500C equally at home as a monitor or a movie screen. It has a contrast ratio of 550:1, a luminance rating of 500cd/m², 16.7 million color palette, S-video, composite video, and a speedy response time of 10ms. The monitor will go on sale early next year for £7490. Via BIOS
Publisher: largest? We’ve mentionned the Samsung 82”, the Sharp 65” a long time ago. :-)

Yes, the Sharp 65" exists in retail. Mine was delivered earlier this week. It replaces my Sharp 45" panel in the Master Bedroom. I believe they still have the floor model at www.bjorns.com

Do a search on 'sharp 65" LCD' and you will find some for sale between 15k and 20k. If it's on the market, I think that it's fair to call it "mass produced". :)

It's supposedly the largest LCD in mass production. Those other ones were one-shots.

If you follow the 82" Samsung link, and if you look closely at the photo, the display is labled as being an LCD display, not a Plasma. (That was in March 2005 - argh)

Samsung is plasma, not LCD. They are talking about largest LCD pic.

Actually, I think that the Samsung 82" is the largest. It's funny how manufacturers all claims to get the largest display. When pressed, they say something like: The largest with DVI+VGA+550:1 contrast ratio... you get the picture. :(

Shouldn't Sharp's 65" LCD TV be the largest? It also has 1920x1080, albeit only capable of taking 1080i signals.
And LG's 55" doesn't have any digital signal input? Not even DVI?
