Rumors abound that Apple could eliminate Firewire
Rumors are floating that Apple will eliminate Firewire from its products eventually. This is partly fueled by USB-only compatibility in the iPod Nano, while next-gen iBooks are rumored to have Firewire 800 connectivity only. The Firewire webpage on the Apple site has disappeared as well. A drastic move like removing Firewire completely from Apple’s inventory could alienate a large customer base... ??? The Firewire web pages are still there. And Firewire has been the defacto standard high speed interface for consumer digital video cameras (HD, MiniDV, DVD and Digital8) for years.
