i have 1gb sd card... my v66 has a phone memory up to 50mb... the problem is i cant use this capacity b'coz i can directly connect it to my pc... even when using the "storage" only format... the pc doesn't recognize any external device that is connected to its USB port... whats the problem with this?

to vince: dude! we have the same problem (at least you have your cd). just install the v66 software and you can transfer files from your pc to your unit.hope this helps!
to Bon: check the asus website. they have the firmware upgrade page there. just download it.

A 1. to do a hard reset, you can update your firmware, its just a like a hard reset but all your settings including java games will gone (how pity)
A 2. Please look for a forum that discusses about V75, this forum is for V66

Smart Telecoms rate is Php10 for every 30minutes or a fraction of it

yung may mga problem sa data transfer (upload java games, mp3, pictures... etc..) pwedeng gawing flash drive ang asus nyo.. make sure lang ma select ninyo yung MASS STORAGE, wag ang COM

When uploading Java games, you can download it via your handset manager. Although I tried it lots of times, I can't still upload the Java Games, unless I am going to download on the Wap Sites that cost Php 50.00 per game or $1.00 per game

after setting everything go to menu-network-wap-settings-profiles, select the profile you created go to options and activate
after doing so .. you may have to reset your phone then try sending MMS and using your phone browser, this setting works fine with my v66 handset if it doesnt work with you, "e google mo nalang, wahehehehehehe"

hindi mp4 files ang supported ng asus v66 but 3gp files as well as mp3 files. pde mo iconvert ung mga mpeg and avi files to 3gp so u can watch it on ur fone..download k n lng s net, search m imtoo video 3gp converters or pde k rin bumili ng mga softwares kc ung nsa net ay mga trial version lng wherein u can convert files in a limited time only.

For me, i go for V80. it gives you more enjoyment. While the J208 for a more professional aura...(I LOVE ASUS!)

Uma: Hello, I know this topic is meant for the asus V66, but I have an inquiry on my V80. I bought the black version yesterday and it is indeed a great phone for the buck.
My only dilemma is that the flash is out of focus for my unit, meaning that when
taking a picture in the dark using the flash, the upper portion (in landscape mode)
is not lit at all. Hence, the outcome is a picture where only 2/3 of the area is visible.
But If the flash could just be adjusted a little more focusing on the top, then the light
would fill-out the whole picture area. I have tried this both in normal and night mode
and the results were almost the same. Is this a common problem for the V80? I wanted
to ask first before letting this repaired at Wellcom. Still, it would be possible to let
this be repaired, right? Thanks in advance!

hey...i just found this site and i think i should leave a comment about this cool phone.i`ve brought it on 12 feb 06. then i`ve been used it till now...this stuff was really cool...i even can enjoyed a really low mp3 quality(because this may reduce the storage) but it still can give the greatest sound ever. then, i can enjoy those long movies...just as at the cinema.but u need to convert the vcd or the dvd into the 3gp format...recently for two hours movie...it just take about only 40-45MB storage in your SDcard...i believe that many of u guys were using 1GB memory storage,isn`t it? well...the battery still about two bar eventhough u were watching the movie plus 3 hours of enjoying mp3...really cool!! further more...after i`m upgrading diz phone to version of 4.6...i found tat if it cannot accept or execute the java game or the java application installed...it will restored by itself...that is different from any phone i ever used...if anything occur,i must have took it to the shop to fix it(nokia for example)...all you have to do is wait about 30 minutes...and that`s it...all your problem will be solved...but the only thing i hate about diz stuff is, when it is restored to its factory setting...all of your contact number stored in diz phone will gone...so, its better stored all your contact in the sim card...whoa...i`ve been shared lotz of my experienced here...one more thing you should know...diz phone is really tough...because it have been so many times fall onto the floor but the camera is still ok and others...then...as for the accessories...you also can enjoy the "irritating other person" `s head phone...all you have to do is buy the converter cable of 3.5mm phone jack, then just put it to the phone jack...just like other mp3 or mp4 player...really...it so much fun being alone hearing loud and happening mp3 even when you were in the crowded places...there is no more bringing your mp3 or mp4 while travelling because this phone already have all your needs for entertainment :P

walang problema ang v66 in downloading files, gamitin nyo lang na parang flash drive... walang hastle, salamat pala sa lahat na nag comment sa asus tungkol sa minor problems ng v66 ngayon naka dalawang firmware na.. sana gumawa sila ng firmware na pwede ma customize ang message tone no... :) peace out, punta kayo dito sa cebu ngayong summit, mang gulo tayo... bwahehehehehe joke... ;P

masflexible i-connect sa pc ang v66 kaysa sa nokia. kahit yung mga price na lampas 15thousand. kailangan pa nila ng nokia pc suite kaya ang kuya ko hirap maglagay ng songs sa ibang computer o sa internet cafe. eh ako ang dali dali.

here are the steps
Once na download mo na ung WINRAR file from the ASUS website extract mo un sa folder of your choice. May makita kayo icon n mukhang V66. If you 2click that may WELLCOM software n lalabas with WEIRD instructions. What you do is just close that application and EXTRACT mo ulit using WINRAR ung na extract mo na from the ASUS site. It's a WINRAR within a WINRAR file
;-) Now may makita kayo dapat BIN FILE na "V66-ASUS-PH-R103-1-V4_7_0"
Actually yan lang ang kailangan mo.
Then do the following:
>Turn off V66 phone
>Connect via USB
>Copy the BIN file "V66-ASUS-PH-R103-1-V4_7_0" to the memory card (not to the phone memory)
>Safely Remove V66 from Pc
>Turn on V66
>Go to: SETTINGS> PHONE SETTINGS > FIRMWARE UPGRADE
>Locate the BIN file and select ok
>An upgrade bar should appear. Wait about 5 min and the V66 will automatically turn off
Once the phone has turned off remove the battery of V66 and reinsert
Turn on V66 and your done! The typing problem should be fixed

uma, can you be more specifc. i tried lot of things. i copy both .rar and .exe file . i try to open it but no option for open. i also try via setting, frimware upgrade, memory card, but i think it must be .bin file .
also, i open the .exe in the computer. i follow the direction, but after 15 mins, it is still 0%. how come?

when you have downloaded it extract all the files and put it on your MiniSD card. Once you have put it on the MiniSD card open the phone and install the new firmware via settings, phone settings then firmware upgrade.

Not really Series 40. More like MIDP 1.0 compliant games.
It just so happens that most Series 60 games are MIDP 2.0 games, while MIDP 1.0 games still float around for older Series 40 models.

To answer more to your comments here it is:
MMS is only allowed for 100kb MAX because it is the policy of ALL NETWORK PROVIDERS IN ALL COUNTRIES. Because transfer rate of data via phones are only 6-10kb per sec. it will take about an hour or more just to transfer a 1mb of video. plus remember not all phones are expandable memory some are just 5mb or even less.
On the camera you can't really expect good pictures from a .3mp camera especialy with no lights or even a flash. go for an megapixel camera and see the difference.
For the radio, All cellphones capable with radio are required for an earphone or headset to be able to work. The earphone serves as an atena. You can listen to music thorugh loudspeaker in the V75 but it still requires a earphone attatchment.

Basta may sira un keypad pwede pairepair within warranty. Dun sa double letters natural lang un kasi dun un sa texting program ng Asus. Pero na report ko na un sa taiwan sabi nila titignan nila kung ano magagawa nila.

Asus V66 is a very cool phone but if the following issues are not resolve then it's place is going to be in the trash, hope guys from asus read user reviews,
-cannot customize message tone
-the problem explained by onald when texting
-no option to send video via MMS
-poor camera, when your in the dark it virtually sees nothing
-why cant radio be played without head set(that s***ks)
-MMS sending is only limited to 100k(that s***ks big time)

yes uma tama ka nga na kapag pini-press ang key minsan domodoble ang letter o kaya ang unang dalawang magkasunod na letter like when pressing the JKL to get an L lumalabas, JJ o kaya JK. Pero kung dinahandahan ko okay naman ang labas.

for playing the *.3gp files try using the classic media player 6.4 (C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2) i can play the video files from my ASUS V66. or use Nokia Multimedia Player u can DL it separately @ Nokia.com
the phone doesnt have bluetooth or IR nun bibilin ko plng yun eh yun ang prng hindi ok, pro nun ng tagal eh prng ok nrin (if ur a PC user or working with PC) the file transfer is fast & easy, the cable is the same as digital cameras so u can find cable just anywhere.

for games try nyo yun mga pang nokia 6610, 7210, etc. basta *.jar copy then use file manager pr ma-install. mrmi n akong n try n games, prob lng minsan hindi fit s screen yun game, delete nyo lng then install n lng ulet ng iba. pro prng up to 10 games lng yt pwede. ksi meron default size s java setting yun size for java games. di tulad ng mga Nokia depend s whole memory ng phone, yun 6610i ng GF ko 20+ yun java games nun kso na nakaw s SM fud court :(
for videos use Xilisoft Video Converter almost all video formats pwedeng i-convert to 3gp. meron dun setting for high quality! superb! super linaw! w/o ext memory i manage to fit "scary movie 4" on the phone! cool!

Medyo malapit ako sa wellcom...
Reasonable naman un 18k price ng M310 kasi hindi nga 3G pero sanka naman makakakita ng cellphone na Flip type, FULLY aircraft aluminum body, 2mp CCD camera pa. Kahit walang 3G astig ka parin. Galing nga ng Asus eh pumapantay na sa Samsung at Motorola.
Pero sa taiwan kasi ang Factory price ng M310 nasa 18k satin kaya siguro 18k satin.
Sa V75 naman hindi parin chagable message tone, pero sa J208 pataas pwede na palita un message tone.
Gusto mo mag V80 ka nalang 12k-14k estimated price, one of the best non-3G phone.

Try having a .3gp and .mp4 converter, once you have installed one your windows media player will recognize .mp4 and .4gp files.
Wallpapers in the Asus V66 is only up to 640x480 and lowest its 176*220
Try to wait for Asus V80 it's the best phone with no 3G. (for my opinion)

this phone is quite good but it wud hav been better if it had bluetooth or infared prefarably bluetooth. becuace it is then easy to connect up with others. and exchange files with others. also asus should start making accesories for the V66 coz am using it a lot and cant seem to find a case to protect it. also thiis phone can only play vedio files with the format 3gp. so other windows media vedio clips cant be played on this phone. and windows media player does not play 3gp files sometimes it is really irritating. also wen iput some pictures on my phone and tryeed to set it as my wallpaper it said it was too big. but the sound quality is great so u asus guys out there you made a good phone but you could have made an even better one. and try to make a asus flap phone which is altra slim i'll be the firstto by it.

If you are from the philippines the Asus V66 is phase out now. I recomend to you to buy the Asus V75 instead for better features and better readings of files.
I recomend Asus to all because it's price, features and durability is good. Not like in Nokia, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson your phone's price will go down FAST!! and a VERY WIDE SPREAD of those units are illegal because they are recondition, and illegal repairs have been accured in thouse units. If you are not careful you might buy a phone that is Illegal.

i want to open it but i can't.
there is also difficulty in typing. i think there is a bug. and sometimes in locating a filename using its first letter do not work.

Resolution of M310 is QVGA. Capturing Still photos are better in M310 but in terms of Video the N93 is better because the N93 captures 30 frames per second while the M310 only captures 15 frames per second.
If you compare the price M310 = 18,000 N93 = 36,000
Adding 3G and Better Video makes you cost double the price of the M310.
So I would still go for the M310 and chage phone if 3G here in the philippines is fully developed.
Why would you buy a 3G phone if you don't have a friend with a 3G phone?
Yes buy a 3G phone now so that you are "uso", but remember when the time comes that 3G is fully developed here prices of those units will be around ONLY 12k.

Yes M307 will not be available here because M307 was announced Febuary 2006 and until now there is no M307 here in the philippines. Expect M310 it's much better than the camera of N93.

M310 and P525 will be available here in the philippines by early november, price is still to be announced.
As for Asus V80 not sure, because Asus V75 and J208 just arrived here in the philippines last August 6. And with the M310 and P525 comming, I think that it will be late for Asus V80 to arrive here.

i bought asus V66 but after two weeks it became problematic.... a warning message has been posted on the screen everytime i charge my phone. It goes like this Warning! Charger contact unstable> I'm quite disappointed with this product.

in the future units like Asus V75 the texting problem is gone, but I hope they will have an firmware upgrade for V66.

i bought my v66 last november 2005 and it's really a great buy! for 10T you have mp3 player, fm radio, camera, games, etc. and it has an expandable memory besides a huge internal memory of 60MB. its nokia counterpart costs a whole lot more. at first i was bothered by its texting features but i have adjusted already. now, if it's really important, i just call the person instead of txting. :)

just bought this phone last june 19. its great except for the fact that it doesnt come with bluetooth.. and yeah, i sometimes have problems when txting in a hurry.. the letters do get jumbled up,i.e. instead of letter "f" i'd get a de.. i also cant personalize message alerts, i can only choose from the tones preset on the phone. they had this student discount at wellcom glorietta, bought my phone for 9,500 with 512mb..hehe. i've downloaded lots of music videos, some clear and some aren't.. but its all good, audio is great.. all in all, this ASUSv66 rocks! (cant they do something about the connectivity!,, i want bluetooth,hehe)

Here's a step by step:
1. Turn off the phone
2. Connect to pc using supplied USB cable
3. open My Computer, look for removable drive (that's your phone, you'll have 2 if you have a mini SD installed)
4. create a folder: "Games"
5. transfer all your java files in there, organize as you please you have plenty of space anyway
6. safely remove USB device (your phone, that is)
7. open your phone
8. go to Organizer>File Manager
9. choose the location where you saved the files (handset or DRM (that's the mini SD)
10. Click Open
11. Choose the "Games" folder you created
12. Select the jar file you copied in there
13. Click it using your phone's Enter key (that's the one in the middle of the square navigator) if you don't know what I'm talking about, click "Option" then choose, Install! GREAT WORK!!!!
14.Now exit and open your phone to Media Center>Java and it's there! HAHAHAHAHAHA! ENJOY!!!!!

Get a load of this guys!
Download your java files in the phone using the mass storage option. Click on the JAR file and install! That's it. Unlike a Nokia, there's no need to buy another software just to install the games!
So simple! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bought mine last night. Great phone! Love the FM radio, very good signal, like listening to a dvd.
You don't have to download Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0. The phone comes with a cd handset manager software that automatically converts most popular video formats to 3gpp when you upload the file to the phone.
It uses to connectivity features:
1. USB Mass Storage,
2. Communications Port.
When you use the handset manager software, you have to choose the Com Port. Otherwise, it won't connect.
Steps:
1. Turn phone ON.
2. Connect to USB port.
3. options appear on phone, choose Com Port
4. Wait for connection.
5. You're done, you can upload your videos, music, update phonebook, etc...

Hi! this phone is ok! for the price it is better than k750. Just hope they release firmware update for some issues. S40 games work, you just have to copy it to the phone or memory then open on the phone. It'll automatically install.
