Motorola Modeo DVB-H receiver – CES 2006
Walking around in the Motorola Booth, I noticed this PMP-looking device. It turns out, it’s a DVB-H (Digital TV over the air) receiver. Motorola did not want to disclose a lot of details about it, but I learned that it has a 320x240 display and connects to the computer via USB. The video demo was running at 15FPS (Frames Per Second) and was playing a QCIF video stream. It’s an unusual format, given that most manufacturers are gearing towards MPEG4. I would not be surprised if this device could connect to a mobile phone network, but I don’t have any hard information. It would also be surprising if the device was not capable of playing standard multimedia files.
