Motorola ROKR E2 Hands On at CES 2006
Jan 4, 06 05:55 AM PDT
Shortly after the announcement, here we are playing with the Motorola ROKR E2. As a fellow web publisher was saying: we’ve been publishing rumors about it and once again it was all true ?. The ROKR E2 has a better design (although still somewhat bulky) than its predecessor. Among the physical improvements is a much nicer screen. The ROKR E2 will not use Apple’s iTunes, but Motorola’s iRadio Music Service that will let users download a pre-programmed music show on their phone. Obviously, users can also upload their own MP3 files. Using an SD card, the ROKR E2 could potentially store up to 2GB of music as of today, and even more in the future. Available in H1 2006.

I own it, modded it and its freaking brilliant sounds like an Ipod-nano better than W series and I would not trade it for W880i!

I like the E1 way better. I didn't want to buy an iPod, which is why I bought this phone. Plus, I don't like the newer design of the E2.

The ROKR E2 had what the E1 lacked, a better screen display, a better memory, more music, blue tooth capabilities, especially blue tooth headset that gives wireless capabilities. The issue about it losing iTunes is no biggie, if you want iTunes? Then buy an iPod. Though what i think it lost was the digital surround sound, sure the surround sound grills were bulky but i guess you cant have them all. To achieve a better design they had to sacrifice the digital surround sound speaker grills of the E398 and ROKR E1.
But all in all, this is a phone to look forward to :)

If you are really into iTunes, check out the Motorola V3i, it runs iTunes and looks way nicer than the ROKR. :D

Yea, I think this phone is a great looking phone, but the whole magic thing about it's Predecessor was that it was the worlds first iTunes enabled phone, and now their taking that away, and putting a lame radio station service on it. Thats the only reason I would'n't but it. I really didn't see what was so bad with the first ROKR phone.
