MSI Solar-Powered Laptop
MSI, a known Taiwanese computer equipment manufacturer, presented a solar-powered laptop prototype. It seems that solar energy would be the sole source of power, which is surpising, given the usual inefficiency of that technology. However, if it turned out to be feasible solar-powered laptop would tremendously alleviate battery life issues that plague mobile computing. A more classic approach would use solar power to assist the internal battery. Via Digitimes.com

I'm surprised that they have not experimented with this idea already, now that they have invented a cloth made out of nano-tubes that is blacker than what was believed to be absolute black this maybe a reality. However really I would rather the tech be made into a separate device such as my laptop bag for less than 250 dollars. The current market bags cost around 600 and do not contain the new nano-tube solar panels yet. Overall until they get solar to be more efficient and SSD drives out in full force solar power wont come true in a really good laptop that could potentially play mmorpg's.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like a mac to me, and if it is, this device will more than likely just reduce battery consumption rather than try to charge it. i think it will work very well, as i experimented with this idea a few years back with some success, but due to lack of funding i couldn't develop it properly..

Presenting, the new MSI laptop, now powered by Solar power, the most effecient energy source in the world, and featuring an ultra low voltage VIA 100Mhz processor!

Seriously, it will either have a crap battery life, or a crap processor.
