Nokia phone acts as distress beacon
Those who fear kidnapping should take note that Nokia has filed an application for a cellphone that is meant to be used in emergency situations such as kidnapping. A dedicated key will render the phone virtually off to the layman, but it is actually triggering a sequence of emergency actions such as time-stamped snapshots and sound recording. A pre-recorded emergency message will be sent to a service center as well. False alarms are avoided with the inclusion of a personal code to deactivate the emergency call.
