Water Quality Checker great addition to home
For $29.95, purchase some peace of mind with the Water Quality Checker. The meter reading is really foolproof – a happy face means clean water while a sad face tells otherwise. It works well with distilled, mineral, tap, and even ground water. All you need to run a test (other than the Water Quality Checker itself) is a drop of water.

:P am I missing something? just what does this thing check? there are 18 parameters that are regulated under the primary drinking water standards. plus an additional 10 regulated parameters under the secondary standards. and then public suppliers try to meet about 20 more parameters that aren't regulated. so there are roughly 50 parameters that require about 50 different and separate chemical techniques and this thing checks for all of them? (and I'm leaving out the microbiological tests.) I've been a chemist for over 30 years and I wasn't aware that mankind had developed a Tri-corder yet. only in your Star Trek dreams could this thing give you a sense of security about your drinking water. save your money to pay your water bill.

Nobody needs this. I work with drinking water and this is a waste of time and money.

Bacteria do not count as total dissolved solids. My guess is that it is simply measuring water clarity (i.e. turbidity). Probably it provides a pretty conservative measurement so that if the turbidity is measureable, it gives a thumbs down to drinkability. But it's only a guess, i have no idea how sensitive the thing is.

Okay, so it tells you the "Total Disolved Solids" rating . . . do bacteria count as "Disolved Solids" or is it just counting muck and minerals?
