Intel looking at Interchangeability Initiative to ease upgrade blues
Intel plans to produce notebook components that allow a less punishing upgrade path. Until today, notebooks are notorious for their short shelf life, with faster and better ones coming out by the day. The Interchangeability Initiative by Intel will look at swappable and upgradeable components in a notebook to become a reality. That means the CPU, video card, optical drive, LCD screen, battery, power adapter, and keyboard can be replaced whenever the old one wears out without the need to plonk down an arm (and a leg) for a new notebook.
