Averatec 1050 notebook targets low-cost market
The 1.6kg Averatec 1050 notebook is a low-cost notebook where its diminutive size definitely works to its advantage. The 1050 features a 1.1GHz Pentium M ULV 733 , 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 chipset, 10.6" WXGA widescreen display, WiFi connectivity, analogue video-out, 4-pin FireWire & 2 USB 2.0 ports, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, and a 4-in-1 memory card reader that supports MMC, SD Card, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro formats. The lack of Bluetooth or 3G connectivity works against it though. Don't expect the 1050 to play the most demanding games - it was designed to perform the most basic computing tasks with aplomb, anything more than that will tax the system considerably. Battery life is rated at approximately 5 hours. All in all, a nifty portable notebook that is going for £949.

The UK pounds price might not sound cheap to the US residents, but this computer is the cheapest 10.6" notebook (with equivalent features). It costs about $1150 today in the US.
