MIT unveils working prototype of $100 laptop
Thankfully, pictures of the MIT's $100 laptop under the One Laptop Per Child program show that the infamous crank has disappeared. This working prototype shows that this noble vision is beginning to bear fruit. This laptop aims to increase the literacy rate among 3rd world and developing countries. The projection screen has been replaced by a LCD that can switch between a low-resolution color mode and a high-resolution monochrome mode. Initially, the machines will cost $130 and they hope to reduce it to $80 within a few years. Production will begin in Q1 next year.
