Unicorn Information System's MVIX media hard drive enclosure offers 802.11g WiFi interfacing capabilities that does away with messy wires. The deluge of DivX-compatible DVD players does not diminish the need for a hard drive that stores nothing but multimedia content. After all, the MVIX won't run into incompatibility with certain codecs, tackling MPEG 1/2/4, WMV 9, ASF, TP, VOB and ISO with aplomb. It is HD-ready and can handle resolutions up to 1080i, as well as support for an array of audio files with 5.1 channel sound support. The MVIX media hard drive enclosure ought to be released this summer. Pricing details are unknown at the moment.
