Tourism Radio launched in Cape Town
Cape Town has launched the world's first GPS-driven radio station, the Tourism Radio. The station provides tourists with on-the-spot info and alerts them of interesting places whenever they are within the vicinity. To use Tourism Radio, rent a car that is specially fitted with a GPS device that prompts the radio to "tune in" with the many satellites above. Budget, National, Alamo, Scenic, and Sixt carry GPS-equipped cars at a minimal surcharge, so getting one isn't too hard. Set the radio dial to 90.2FM and start driving. You can even switch to normal radio if you aren't in the mood for sighseeing. With more than 50 hours of programming at any one time, Tourism Radio is a treasurehouse of knowledge in South Africa.
