Undiluted Platinum PSP modchip debuts
Published on 05/30/2006

Read this with a pinch of salt until any further confirmation - looks like Sony has lost the war in protecting the PlayStation Portable's firmware from hackers with the introduction of the first PSP modchip, the Undiluted Platinum. Needless to say, Sony uphill battle was doomed from the start due to the overwhelming odds stacked against it, but kudos to them for trying. The Undiluted Platinum acts as a flash replacement, making it possible to use older and even customized firmwares. Designed to fit into the PSP comfortable, unsigned homebrew code can now run on the latest PSP without a glitch.
