Apple investigates iPod 'slave' claims
Are iPods really evil as people believe? A newspaper reports that certain quarters of Apple's staff in Chinese iPod factories experience working 15 hour shifts for wages as little as £27 a month under slave conditions to produce the world's most popular MP3 player. The factory houses 100 employees in dormitories and has banned outsiders from coming in. Apple claims that it is currently investigating the purported claims against it in China and has always ensured that working conditions in their supply chain is safe. Looks like Apple has now joined the ranks of Nike, McDonalds, and other corporate giants who allegedly exploit third world labor forces for a bigger profit margin.
