Epson A6 QXGA Electronic Paper a reality

Published on 06/11/2006

Epson has managed to develop their version of an electronic paper by utilizing the SUFTLA Technology (Surface-free technology by laser annealing) on a polycrystalline-silicon thin film transistor. This A6 (7.1") QXGA (1536 x 2048 resolution) success comes with integrated drivers that were fabricated via a low temperature process. This technology has also enabled the fabrication of an all-plastic substrate TFT-LCD that has a display area of 0.7" measured diagonally and a pixel count of 428/spl times/238.
