John, you should learn something about movie encoding.
Not for a newb, but it works well. The screen isn't high res, but it wouldn't be for the 160 i paid for it. (with the accessories) When movies are properly encoded for it, they play like a charm.

Do not buy this product for the iPod integration. The screen is terrible when view, using the iPod as the video source. The image is so bad that it is unwatchable. I give it an F- here for this function. The DVD player is OK at best. It doesn't play DivX which pretty much all of newer portable in this price range support. Also, the unit itself is extremely thick. It doesn't look like the picture on their site.
