MacBooks of different color perform differently

Macworld ran some tests on both the white and black 2.0GHz MacBook models and came up with some pretty interesting results. The main physical difference between the two are the case color, and a 60GB 5400rpm HDD in the white model compared to the 80GB 5400rpm HDD in the black one. It seems that results derived from Speedmark tests showed a performance gap, with the white MacBook seizing the initiative most of the time, and the difference was all the more stark in the Compressor MPEG-2 Encoding test and iMovie test. Switching to a 100GB 7200rpm Seagate HDD revealed the culprit behind the lagging numbers in the black model, where it duly overran the white in HDD-intensive tasks.
