Toshiba looks toward hybrid player

Following Samsung's footsteps, Toshiba's president has weighed in with his opinion on developing a hybrid HD DVD/Blu-ray player, seeking opportunities to unify both standards. Looks like having separate formats could cost millions, if not billions in losses for manufacturers depending on which side of the war they're on. It is quite likely that a combo player is on the cards in the future, although there isn't any indication of how well individual formats well do before there is any unification. Will this throw one of Sony's PlatStation 3 and the Xbox 360's marketing points (Blu-ray vs HD-DVD) out of the window?
