6G iPod could be wireless

Apple fans who are palpipating at the fact that rumors regarding Microsoft's attempt to develop a portable audio and video device with wireless capability can breathe easier as analysts predict Apple will not take this new development lying down. Since Apple has always released two iPods per year on average, there is enough room and time for Apple to release a new wireless iPod when fall rolls around. Will the iPod's undisputed position in the market be threatened? Only time will tell, but it is the consumers who will end up as the winners no matter what the outcome is. ( Add a comment)

One thing that we know for sure is that consumer electronics have to evolve to survive. Apple has to take it to the next level and wireless is an obvious choice (Bluetooth Headset, Wi-Fi direct connection to iTunes, wireless music broadcasting. This might not only enbale a new way to access the iTunes services but it would certainly be a gold rush for accessories manufacturer. Finally, I'll be able to use the Oakley OROKR without having to plug the iPod in a wireless extension.
