Fujitsu Palm Vein Technology in ATMs
Published on07/17/06

Fujitsu will test its new palm sensor with Banco Bradesco, a major Latin American bank, using its proprietary PalmSecure technology that will pick up a person's vein patterns that course through a hand for authentication purposes. The sensor within will compare the captured pattern against its database of pre-registered data before okaying a transaction. Measuring just 35mm x 35mm, this sensor could also be used in other technologies and fields. There is a false rejection rate of 0.01% and a false acceptance rate of less than 0.00008% - that translates to 4,800 people being accepted falsely in this world of 6 billion people.
