Freescale Semiconductor has now made its Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) device being produced in volume for commercial purposes. It has the strengths of both the typical PC RAM and flash memory, and none of their weaknesses. That means MRAM offers speedy performance while retaining data when there is no power. Freescale's 4Mbit MRAM offering offers non-volatile memory with unlimited endurance that is bound to impact commercial applications such as networking, security, data storage, gaming, and printers. The company will introduce MRAM into consumer electronics within the next one and a half years.
