Sony BWU-100A Blu-ray rewritable drive
Sony has lifted the curtain on its first internal Blu-ray disc rewritable drive in the form of the BWU-100A. This is an aftermarket solution for the PC market, and the drive will support recording of both 25GB and 50GB BD-R/BD-RE discs at a maximum speed of 2x. Not only that, it is backwards compatible with support for recording the normal, single layer 4.7GB DVD+R/+RW, Double/Dual Layer 8.5GB DVD+R, DVD-RAM and CD-R/-RW media. You can also playback Blu-ray movies with the help of a HDCP-compliant graphics card and a high-definition display. The BWU-100A will be released in August for $750.
