Dell recalls notebook batteries

Published on 08/14/2006

Dell has made the right move by recalling over 4.1 million notebook computer batteries that were manufactured by Sony due to the innate ability to overheat and catch fire when in use. The affected notebooks were shipped between April 1, 2004 and July 18 this year. Faulty batteries can short circuit and cause the battery to overheat, and several people have reported cases of their notebook (and work) going down in a burst of flames. For a list of affected notebooks, please read on after the jump.
