Philips develops Lumalive
Wearable electronics is not a new idea, but advances in technology enables manufacturers to create more comfortable and modern clothing. Philips have developed the Lumalive technology that enables LEDs to be integrated ito fibres without leaving any trace behind, rendering the electronic components, batteries, and LEDs invisible to the naked eye when worn. Such a fabric will retain its original qualities being soft and washable, making it a joy to wear. You can now light up your clothes at the flick of a button without looking as if you're wearing a sack of electronic components.

Paul:

They are programmable.
"
Content management
Your own bitmaps of dynamic images, scrolling text and logos, designed with mainstream graphic design programs, can be converted into Lumalive play lists with our Lumalive Content Organizer software. These play lists are uploaded to the Lumalive portable controller via a USB connection, and can be played back on the display panel." form lumalive.com

But, i am sure the selected partners will use your body for advertising. So in this case they will "locked", i think.

check out the official page: lumalive.com

from thier faq:
to me:
"Lumalive display[s] full color visuals and text messages on fabric items."

to william and steve:
"The commercial launch of the first Lumalive application is expected at the beginning of 2008. The products will be commercially available via selected partners in the promotion & event industry."

They don't quote a price and are going to be available though (unnamed) partners. My question is are they programmable (by the buyer) and if not when will they be.
