ThinkTank Airport Security Carry-On

Published on08/27/06

I have been traveling quite a lot in 2006 and because of that, I have been very sensitive to the quality of my luggage. As most of my trips are short, I try to use only a backpack and a carry-on. I had the opportunity to test the Airport Security from thinkTank, a carry-on designed to transport and protect high-end gadgetry. Since such a concentration of electronics can trigger the thought of stealing in others, the Airport Security can be secured with a steel cable similar to the ones used to protect against laptop theft!

The carry-on has been built mainly to transport (expensive) photography gear, but this piece immediately attracted the attention of my friends. That’s quite natural: at first glance the quality is obvious and most people immediately enquired where I purchased it from. Obviously, the Airport Security fit into all the airplanes that I took. It’s hard to believe because it looked so big initially.Because it was designed to carry equipment, it comes with a bunch of horizontal dividers that can be arranged by the user. The dividers are strongly attached with Velcro. I found it particularly interesting even if I had to divide the space in two or three compartments to separate my computer gear from my clothes. The carry-on has two handles that allow for horizontal or vertical carrying. It also has shoulder straps, which is very practical when rolling it along is not an option. When not needed, these straps are invisibly folded into a zipped pocket and will not be left hanging around. We loved the other nice details, such as the business card pocket which provides a nice touch.Although this carry-on is mainly sold in photography stores, it deserves to be known by a wider audience because a lot of people could really use a high-quality carry-on sized luggage. $359 at thinktankphoto.
