Toyota includes radar in rear bumper
Toyota has successfully developed the world's first system that is capable of detecting potential rear-end collisions before the event takes place. The radar that is installed on the rear bumper is capable of detecting any vehicle approaching from behind, whereby an impending collision will kickstart its active safety system. Sensors located in the front headrests are able to detect the position of both the driver and passenger's heads, shifting the headrests' position accordingly to allay the risk of injury resulting from whiplash. Any cars that tailgate will set off the hazard lights automatically. This neat system includes the wellbeing of pedestrians as well, whereby the stereo camera in front detects pedestrians. This new system is will available in the Lexus LS luxury line when launched in Japan this September before making its way to Europe and across the Atlantic.
