Implantable Wireless Biosensors

Published on 09/20/2006

Scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center are currently working on implantable living chips that are capable of monitoring patients in real-time via a wireless connection. These foreign objects in your body are amalgamations of living cells and electronics. The concept gets more and more real by the day, and these chips are capable of detecting physiologic and chemical changes faster and much more accurate, reducing the need for invasive testing and increasing response time which will ultimately benefit the patient. There is no word on availability, but chances are you will have to wait for a few good years before a commercial version is released for the masses.
