Largest seamless display in the world
Published on 10/31/2006

Just when you think that images in a movie theater cannot be beat, a couple of computer engineers have come up with a solution that could potentially change the way outdoor advertising and home entertainment industries work. Christopher Jaynes and Stephen Webb have successfully developed a video projection system that is touted to be the world's highest resolution seamless display, measuring 27 feet across and 15 feet tall. This mammoth display is capable of displaying photographs and video in 60 million pixel, courtesy of 20 networked PCs that are equipped with a couple of graphic cards each, consuming a total of 30,000 watts of power just to operate. The price to pay for such an extravagant display? Approximately $100,000 and a hefty electricity bill at the end of the month.
