Linutop could change the world
Posted on Oct 25, 06 12:51 AM PDT

Computer developers are constantly pushing us to buy the latest and greatest in the world of computers that we often purchase more computing power than we actually need. Thankfully, the Linutop is an extremely portable desktop device that runs on the Linux operating system which is powered by an AMD Geode processor, 512MB of ROM, and 256MB of RAM. Those specifications are enough to perform the occasional word processing and surf the Internet. The Linutop is currently a prototype and has not gone into production yet, but should it be available in the market, we will see more and more people from all walks of life hop on the World Wide Web.

Nice
With OpenOffice.Org (Instead of Abiword), a samba client and a normal ASCII editor included included it would be a powerfull addition to most office environments. And homes like mine, where all documents and music files are stored on a central server.
A price estimate would be interesting.

Nice !
It seems to have USB so I presume I could add an external harddisk.
What about Gigabit LAN ? ..it wouldn't drain much power by including it !
I assume it uses an external PowerSuppply/Adapter at say 12V.
I'd like one one those with the above Specs.
I assume I could use it as a local linux server and file-depositary - somewhat like a NAS .
A price estimate would be interesting as well !
