Lucky the incredible Wonder Pet from Zizzle is a furry version of a dumbed down Sony Aibo, but it should have enough tricks up its paws to keep the tiny ones happy, at least for a while. It is amazing how Zizzle managed to include a speech recognition system into Lucky and still sell it for $60 while making a profit in the process. Lucky is capable of responding to various voice commands and boasts up to 15 different tricks, including shake, beg, sit, tug of war, and even standing on it's head. It goes one up on other dogs by speaking and singing like any other normal human being. We're not sure how long the 4 AA batteries that power it will last though. Too bad there's one thing it can't do for me - fetch the morning papers.

I think this toy is pretty amazing. The voice recognition works most of the time, although it is of course harder for kids because they must enunciate clearly and use the right speed and pitch. With a little practice, even a 6 year old can get Lucky to perform his tricks. I found battery life acceptable, and love that it has fur rather than a hard plastic skin. A plus for us!
