South Koreans are moving toward a robotic society with the Korean Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) launching the pilot program of the national 'Ubiquitous Robot Companion' last week. This pilot program comprises of 1,000 of five different robot models which will be placed in homes across the country. The first round of robots are testing grounds to weed out any bugs before any commercial release is attempted. These robots are meant to canter around the house, bringing you breaking news from the Internet, keeping the kids occupied, ordering food, and even monitoring your home. The final, consumer-ready robot is tipped to retail for approximately $1,000 when it is ready. Perhaps South Korea is building an army of robots secretly to take out the people's leader up north discreetly.
