Samsung develops 12mm thin HDTV

Published on 10/20/2006

Forget all those luscious ladies who are ambassadors of slimming and beauty centers. Samsung has probably slimmed down devices with more success than any other weight loss program available in the market. Not only does Samsung manufacture paper-thin cellphones, they have now managed to combine both OLED and active-matrix LCDs in order to cut a chunk of fat off from HDTVs. This innovation manages to eliminate the backlight which constitutes the most bulk of a flat panel, reducing HDTVs to the slimness of an iPod nano at 12mm thin. This technology is known as AMOLED (active-matrix organic light emitting diode) which is currently being used in Samsung cellphones and portable media players.
