One drawback to the number of gadgetry we lug around these days is the amount of cables taking up precious luggage space. U.S. researchers hope to improve the situation by developing a simple system that could deliver power wirelessly to various devices like notebooks and digital audio players. Although there have been no actual working prototype, the concept can work theoretically based on computer models and mathematics. Exploitation of resonance of electromagnetic waves enable energy to tunnel from one object to another. Wireless charging is currently available through devices like Splashpower, although what the researchers are working on are a more comprehensive solution.
