VeinViewer makes pick out veins easy

Published on 11/15/2006

Trips to the hospital are often punctuated by a pervading sense of fear and unknown, as sickness and death is something we all try to avoid. Getting shots or even donating blood is a huge turn off for some, as they hate being pricked wrongly by novices. The Luminetx VeinViewer is a device that helps ease this rite of passage for both patients and new nurses and doctors alike, enabling the user to find a vein easily without going through trial and error. A light source emits a near infra-red beam that will be bounced back by only the tissue surrounding a vein, where a video camera will capture this image and show up on the display. Superman, you and your X-ray vision are no longer needed at this hospital, thank you very much.
