Computerized mannequins for training
The University of Portsmouth has recently opened the doors of its £4.85 million teaching facility that comes equipped with computerized mannequins which will train up the next generation of health-related scientists. The facility is known as the ExPERT Center, and will house a couple of simulation suites which comprise of an operating theatre and a hospital ward along with state-of-the-art mannequins. These mannequins will be able to give out various signs like heartbeats, sounds from the lungs and bowel, while exhibiting normal human activity like breathing oxygen, drooling, secreting fluids, and even reacting to drugs that are injected inside. This is truly a technological marvel as I would definitely feel safer going under the knife of someone who has been trained at the ExPERT Center than a freshie full of theoretical junk in their heads.
