DS turns Wiimote
Published on 12/ 8/2006

Everyone knows how fun the Nintendo DS can be, but apparently the little handheld console that could wants to challenge it's home console sibling, the Wii, on the latter's terms with the brand new Motion Sensing Card. At $25 a pop, this third party gaming peripheral comes with an integrated 3-axis accelerometer and a single-axis gyroscope function that endows your DS with Wii-mote like capabilities. Amongst the things you can do with it are tilt sensing, gesture recognition, and twist functions - although we'd caution you to get a hand strap as you wouldn't want to fling a $130 device away while having a ton of fun. The DS Motion Sensing Card will be available next year onwards, but it remains to be seen whether software developers will include such functionality in their games.
