Egad! Have we gotten so lazy that we not only need a remote that controls the tilt and angle of our flat screen TVs while we rest our lazy bums on the couch, but a robot that will actually feed a person? While the able-bodied pooh-pooh at this idea, it is actually the disabled who do not have the capacity to feed themselves. The My Spoon robot from Secom is controlled via a joystick, where the robotic arm is capable of picking food up from the tray (it might score top points with sushi and tempura, but what about burgers and fries?) and directing it towards your oral orifice. No idea on how much the My Spoon would costs, but it ought to cost at least a few months' of your caregiver's wages, so do make a thorough Return-On-Investment investigation before picking one up.
