Store your safe in your floor
Every house ought to have at least a safe to store all the important items such as passports, family heirlooms, and miscellanous jewelry, but more often than not even safes are broken into. What better way to keep thieves puzzled by picking up this Sentry In-Floor Safe? Capable of holding up to 540 cubic inches of valuable items, it boasts a four-number combination lock and can be installed in a place where your everyday no-good thief will never think of checking - your floor. Of course, I'm not sure how effective this ruse would be, and chances are it can't be installed in apartments as you would probably bore a hole through your neighbor's ceiling before it is properly secured. The waterproof Sentry In-Floor Safe retails for $120.

A suggestion for those who live in apartments: buy a large storage container or garbage can to hold your floor safe and pour concrete around the floor safe. Your valuables will be protected from fire and most theft because young robbers don't want to carry a 200 lb container around. If you are using a garbage can, they might not even look inside.
